Floyd Schofield Sr. says his son, Floyd Jr., isn’t coming to lose against WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson on February 22nd in their fight in Riyadh. He says that fans are tripping if they believe Schofield Jr (18-0, 12 KOs). is just coming up for the sake of it.
Boxing fans believe Floyd Jr. and his father are talking about this fight only for money. They don’t think they can win and will be dominated by Shakur (22-0, 10 KOs) on DAZN PPV.
The way they pushed for this fight and ignored promoter Oscar De La Hoya, who said Floyd Jr. needs more experience, makes it look like this is just about money. If Schofield Jr. had at least one quality win on his resume, fans would believe that he really wants to win.
“We’re Coming To Win”
“We’re not going out there to lose. Y’all bugging. We’ve been against the odds. I’m telling Oscar [De La Hoya] to make the fight, and we’re going against the odds,” said Floyd Schofield Sr. on social media, talking about his son’s fight against WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson on February 22nd.
“We’re used to this, fighting with our back against the wall because we got something to fight for. We’re breaking generational curses. We’re enjoying it. We’re going out to bang. I hope you all tune in for the fight.
“We thank Shakur for the opportunity. We’re going to continue to be humble because it’s time to grow in our lives. I want to be humble and spread love, but at no time are we going to lose a fight mentally on us. Come on now, y’all got to be real for that,” said Schofield Sr.
It says a lot about Shakur that he selected the 22-year-old Schofield Jr. as his opponent rather than selecting the many more qualified contenders like Andy Cruz, Edwin De Los Santos, Raymond Muratalla, Jose ‘Rayo’ Velazquez, or Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz. Stevenson doesn’t want to lose before he gets the Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis fight. Selecting Floyd Jr. is Shakur’s way of assuring he doesn’t get beaten.
“You already know who I am by now. Y’all can watch on the Internet. I’m going to be a more humbler version of myself and a more quiet version. The bottom line is we’re going to go out to win. We know we’re the underdog, and we love that,” said Schofield.
Floyd Sr. must keep talking because he’s the only one who is really promoting this fight. Shakur has done nothing on his side to hype up the match, and Schofield Jr. is quiet as well. He’s not a talker.
Upset in Riyadh?
“So, please don’t lose all your money betting on Shakur. Don’t be mad at me. Don’t come up with some nonsense because you lost your family money betting on Shakur. We got to prove what we say, and we’re going out there to rock,” said Schofield r.
“The WBC title is on the line and the new. I’m telling y’all. Keep sleeping. Y’all going to have a nightmare. Go to sleep, Shakur,” said Floyd Sr.
Schofield’s only shot at winning is by knocking out Shakur because he’s not going to win a decision. For that matter, he may not even win any rounds. The way Floyd Jr. struggled against Rene Tellez Giron in his last fight on November 2nd, he doesn’t belong in the same ring as Stevenson.
