Devin Haney Vs. Brian Norman Jr. Scuffle: Bodyguard Rips Shirt In NYC

Devin Haney and Brian Norman Jr. got into a scuffle today in New York City. Haney shoved Norman Jr’s hand away when he was pointing at him. An unidentified person, supposedly Haney’s bodyguard, grabbed Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs), and ripped his shirt, pulling it over his head before they wrestled to the ground.

Norman Jr. showed his strength, wrestling the heavyweight-sized bodyguard to the ground with one arm. He took him down like he was a smaller guy, and looked like he was ready to nail him with the same left hook that he knocked out Jin Sasaki with.

Bill Haney had to order the bodyguards to back off Norman Jr, saying, “Back up. Don’t f*** Devin’s money up.” If not for that command by Bill, the bodyguards looked like they wanted to fight until the bitter end.

Bodyguard Rips Norman Jr.’s Shirt

The guy was a lot bigger than Norman Jr., looking like a heavyweight in size. It was a bit much for what was a harmless finger-pointing from Brian Jr. that started this thing. The bodyguard went way overboard for what was just finger-pointing.

Before it got started, Bill Haney told Norman Jr, “We’re giving you an opportunity.”

Norman Sr. responded with, “We got the belt.”

At that point, Brian Jr. pointed at Haney when speaking, and he slapped it away. From there, Norman Jr. was grabbed by his shirt by a huge guy, and the two wrestled to the ground. It was a good thing there were no punches thrown. If Norman Jr. had suffered a cut, it might have delayed their November 22nd fight.

The way that Bill Haney is talking, he’s sounding like he’s doing Brian Norman Jr. a favor by letting him fight his son rather than the other way around. It’s Devin who is in need of a big-name opponent after he lost out on his fights against Ryan Garcia and Teofimo Lopez. Who else is there at welterweight for Haney to fight?

Turki Alalshikh isn’t going to pay Devin $10 million for another tune-up opponent like in his last fight against Jose Ramirez last May. He wants value for the money. The way Devin ran around the ring in that fight, it’s a miracle that Turki still wants to use him in his events.

There would be no interest from fans in watching Haney fight the winner of the July 19th fight between 46-year-old Manny Pacquiao and WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios.
